INTERNATIONAL COOPERATIONS WITHIN THE LLP ERASMUS EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

The Erasmus University Charter (EUC) provides the general framework for the European co-operation activities a higher education institution (HEI) may carry out within the Erasmus programme. It is a prerequisite for HEI to organise student mobility and teaching and other staff mobility, to carry out Erasmus intensive language courses and intensive programmes, and to apply for multilateral projects, networks, accompanying measures and to organise preparatory visits.

Istanbul Aydın University was awarded with "Extended University Erasmus Charter" in the academic year of 2009-2010, which is valid for the entire duration of the EU's Lifelong Learning Programme, that is 2013.

Istanbul Aydin University welcomes European students within the LLP- Erasmus Exchange Program and further sends Turkish students to our partner universities in Europe. IAU has Erasmus Bilateral Agreements with 77 partner universities across 19 European countries. In 2011-12 academic year, IAU had 35 incoming students and 86 outgoing students. The implementation of ECTS has, since its introduction, has been found wide acceptance in the higher education systems across the European Countries and become a credit system and an indispensable tool supporting major aims of the Bologna Process and, thus, of European Higher Education Area as it makes teaching and learning in higher education more transparent across Europe and facilitates the recognition of all studies. The system allows for the transfer of learning experiences between different institutions, greater student mobility and more flexible routes to gain degrees. It also offers a systematic approach to curriculum design as well as quality assessment and improvement and, thus, quality assurance.
