UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

İstanbul Aydin University  has 8 faculties offering 37 different Programs.  7 faculties offer undergraduate degrees in 36  four-year, 240 ECTS pprograms while the newly added Faculty of Dentistry offers a combined master's degrre in a five-year and 300 ECTS program. All other graduate degrees, doctoral and master's ,  are offered by two Insitutes which are covered in the next section.   İstanbul Aydin University aims to contribute to  the need for qualified human resource of the country and  city of İstanbul as well with a wide range of social, natural and applied science education. The variety of programs will be enriched parallel to the country’s need. The most popular fields such as computer sciences,information technologies and energy policies are the priorities of  education  and the physical and academic infrastructure of the main campus is continuously being developed to answer such needs.

GRADUTE PROGRAMS

Only in a short while ,İstanbul Aydin University succeeds in providing a wide range of bachelor’s degrees , and  is expanding its educational area with 20 different graduate Programs under the roof of the institutes of science and social sciences . Doctoral Programs have also started in 3 programs : Business Management , English Language and Literature, and Food Technology.

ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAMS
ANADOLU BIL VOCATIONAL SCHOOL (ABMYO)

Initiated by Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation in 2003 in order to provide qualified human resource for national and international world of Business , ABMYO is the first sample of non-state vocational higher schools established individually by direct approval of higher education council. It has become a part of  İstanbul Aydin University following its inauguration. ABMYO is providing 42 day-time programs and 38 evening programs and 4 distance learning programs in the modern physical and technogical environment of Bahcelievler and Florya campuses, with a large group of wellequipped and experienced taching staff.

DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAMS

Using contemporary teaching techniques on an advanced level for the benefit of its students , İstanbul Aydin University embodies the Distance Learning Center that provides Associate and Graduate level education. Through this program , students who are working or cannot atend the classroom programs for any reason, are able to obtain an Associate Degree in Hospitality and Hotel Management , Computer Programming and Computer Technologies program ming and can earn Graduate Degree in E-Management.

OPPORTUNITIES IN EDUCATION
INTERDEPARTMENTAL TRANSFER

Students of Istanbul Aydin University  who successfully complete minimum  one academic year of the program which they have initially been enrolled may transfer to another program as long as the connect and academic level of which is consonant with the program they are originally placed.

DOUBLE MAJOR

Bachelor’s degree students who succeed in earning a minimum of 60 ECTS by taking courses from a second bachelor’s program, are entitled with a double major diploma along with the diploma of their original program.

MINOR

Bachelor’s degree students may take additonal courses at least 30 ECTS from a second bachelor’s program leading to a certificate in his/her minor program along with a bachelor's degree for their principal program.

INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS IN EDUCATION

With the aim of taking a prominent place in the global platform of higher education, İstanbul Aydin University has been initiating international co-operations, and has already  realised  several joint degree programs in only 3 years’time of its establishment. IAU has signed cooperation agreements  with more than  a  hunderd international higher education  institutions all over the world, mainly from North American  and European countires.These  co-operations bring the opportunity to develop joint or dual degree praograms, summer schools and foreign language learning focilities, collabration in resarch projects, student and staff exchanges. Many academics and leading personnel of each party pay mutual visits between  each other with the purpose of program developments.

LIBRARY

The region where modern Turkey is located had been the home of various populations of different cultures which had been the sources of world's civilizations. Many of those civilizations recorded and saved their knowledge in order to pass them to future generations, and these efforts turned into libraries, many of which could survive till our times.

Being a part of such a rich heritage which placed particular importance to accumulating and sharing knowledge, Istanbul Aydin University has built up its libraries and equipped them with computerized system.

IAU libraries consist of materials such as thousands of books, periodicals. Journals, CDs and videos to provide source for academic and vocational activities and for individual improvement. IAU libraries', having a hi-tech and dynamic infrastructure, renders usual library services as well as virtual library atmosphere to students, lecturers and administrative staff.

Materials are classified by Dewey Digital System and can be reached by open shelf order. Dewey System operates on subject basis and provides an easy access for desired materials. Bahçelievler and Florya libraries are interlinked. Therefore it is possible for students to have quick access to electronic books, audio visual materials from any campus. These libraries provide access to the documentation center of the Higher Education Council(YOK) of Turkey and the National Library enabling users to reach millions of books and documents from IAU library which is in service 18 hours a day. ETIS : İstanbul Aydın University Education & Training System Istanbul Aydin University ECTS Information Package ECTS Information Package European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) which was introduced by the European Council in 1989, within the framework of Erasmus, now part of the Life Long Learning Programme, is a student-centered credit system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme specified in terms of learning outcomes and competences to be acquired. The implementation of ECTS has, since its introduction, has been found wide acceptance in the higher education systems across the European Countries and become a credit system and an indispensable tool supporting major aims of the Bologna Process and, thus, of European Higher Education Area as it makes teaching and learning in higher education more transparent across Europe and facilitates the recognition of all studies. The system allows for the transfer of learning experiences between different institutions, greater student mobility and more flexible routes to gain degrees. It also offers a systematic approach to curriculum design as well as quality assessment and improvement and, thus, quality assurance.
